Question: Why do people hate gays and lesbians so much?

Are they just insecure about their sexualities that they have to degrade someone elses, or is it just really cultural taboo? And if it is a cultural taboo, why all this hate?

Because they think we're abominations or something along those lines, some say we're diverting from gods path or we're just trying to rebel against nature. Some people think that we're all out to turn every straight person gay and corrupt the minds of children blah blah blah. People are afraid of what they don't deem as "Normal " so to some narrowed minded people the only thing they do is hate.

I'm straight myself, but I have several gay/ lesbian/ bi friends. You know, I find it interesting how people react to gays and lesbians. I believe that it is because of Muslim/ Judaism/ Christianty religions (Not trying to be anti-semite here) completely changed western views of homosexual acts. Ancient Greek culture is the birthplace of Western Civilization, and homosexual intercourse were widely appericated and praticed oftenly. Same thing with the Romans. After Christianity took place in Europe, everything else changed. It's sad, really.

Could be because you're awesome and we wish we could be as cool as your are. When a monkey is died pink and put back in the cage, all the other monkeys attack him. I don't know if monkeys are sophisticated enough to have cultural taboos, but they react violently to one of their own who is different.

I think its because straight people don't like to be hit on by gays and lesbians and they're scared, so it turns into hate.

Because they do not much care for their own children and resent the extra work required. Their money does not go as far. There is also the religious and childhood taboos they want to believe are inassailable...like that.

People just don't understand us and how we can like the people we do. Some people think that we like every single person of the same gender, which annoys me. Other people think it's wrong in the eyes of "God " (Sorry if you believe, I'm an atheist.). A few select people feel so insecure about their own sexualities that they have to put us down. Still other people are just haters and hate everybody everywhere no matter what. ; )
